![]() Then I went about erasing Sans’ lines that were overlapping Zigzagoon’s lines! If you want you can stop here, neaten up some of the lines, etc. I was covering part of his arms so I cheated a bit on this. So more often than not I gave Sans’ shirt a middle indent to show variation but also mass.kinda. It’s also great to remember that Underswap Sans might be more of a smol blueberry but he still has a bit of bulk! I think Min does this pretty well, just giving Sans convincing mass. It’s especially helpful if you end up stretching Sans out too much because you can just condense him a bit! I also use the marquee and lasso tools a lot with the move tool! This means I can tweak things like proportion and position but still have it be on the same layer. So I definitely put stuff like the head and expressions on their own layers.Īlthough the scarf doesn’t give me much trouble so I stick that on the layer with the head. I used to do all of the linework on one layer and if you mess up you have to erase a line that you might’ve drawn a gajillion times. I’d say Underswap Sans’ cheek starts a bit higher than halfway down his face.Īlso MULTIPLE LAYERS FOR THE LINEWORK. I found it a bit easier to tackle as two parts instead of making a cleanĬircle and then bumping it out a bit. ish? Then I tackle the head because it gives me so much goshdarn trouble. He might be.a bit more than 3 heads tall?. I don’t really know if I have my own “unique” way of drawing Underswap Sans ‘cause I just don’t draw him that much! But when I go about drawing most anything I start out with a sketch of some sort. Well first off I’ll definitely say that designs are my favorite there’s so much movement (check out the motorcycle artwork!) and I basically consider Min’s work canon at this point. So it can help to take a tip from Underswap Pap and just be chill about it, sketch things out and draw them in crazy and new ways and have fun with it! :Dĭelicatewizardstranger EATsponse underswap papyrus tutorial ![]() Sometimes I feel like my best work (or most “spontaneously good”) is when I don’t have any expectations, or in fact when I know it will turn out looking weird and then I surprise myself! Some final notes: I’m constantly learning to let go a bit more and play around with the “malleability” of characters, how you can squash and stretch their expressions ( like so) and make them feel more alive! Making his design flowing and loose gives it that more relaxed, nonchalant feel.įinally I just went back over all of the lines (which I had done with the Pressure for Opacity setting turned on) with the regular Photoshop brush to darken them up! I made his eyes a bit more narrow and added in the smoke and cigarette. You can give him a giant floofy hood or something thinner, and play around with his outfit, but I think the biggest part is just making his clothing reflect his personality. So these are just notes I scribbled in the edges about Underswap Pap’s clothing. You can have a “toothless” mouth or indicate the teeth, or define each individual tooth! Heck, you want fangs? Give ‘im fangs! I find that more pointy cheekbones look like Underfell Pap and rounder ones look more jovial. Speaking of the head, I work on Pap the same as I work on Underswap Sans! I dunno, something about getting the expression down first boosts confidence maybe? There are a lot of aspects of Underswap Papyrus that you can swap out (AHAHAHA) depending on your stylistic preference. It can help to draw the line defining the zygomatic bone and maxilla (basically the cheeks to the mouth) along the sides of the rectangle jaw piece right after this? They help define the expression and the angle of the head. His head is a bit easier to break into parts I just overlap a circle and a rectangle. I’m gonna preface this by saying that I don’t really have a set style for Underswap Pap, so if you want to see some cool and consistent examples of what style I think of when I think of his design, go look at work and drawings! They both have unique styles that are equally fantastic, plus a lot of movement in their drawings! Plus I’ve gotten more comfortable with drawing his expressions and just having fun with it! Still struggle with drawing regular Papyrus, especially giving himĬheerful but genuine expressions, but Underswap Pap is a bit more on my This was surprisingly less difficult than I thought it would be?
